Abstract

A review on forest genetic richness and diversity in Central America and the destruction process that takes place is presented. Different conservation alternatives and the important role played by the preserved areas in several hundred species conservation are discussed here. Reforestation should play a very important role in conservation. But in order to be considered as an important tool in the protection of forest resources in Central America, at present reforestation still shows a very low level.
