AIM AND SCOPE: Forest Systems is an international and open access peer-reviewed journal with free fees for authors. Forest Systems aims to integrate multidisciplinary and multi-scale research with forest management in complex systems subject to diverse social and ecological background. +Read more Papers that bring together two or more disciplines, forest products and services, interactions between ecological factors and species are given preference in Forest Systems. Manuscripts in relation to climate change effects on forest dynamics, resilience and vulnerability are welcome. Papers that highlight implications of forests products and services on bioeconomy are into the scope of this journal. Studies of all kind of forest systems can be submitted, in particular those that provide a variety of wood and non-wood products and ecosystem services in Regions of Mediterranean climate. Forest Systems covers research findings dealing with all aspects of forest ecosystems and forestry such as (in alphabetic order):

•    Biodiversity and conservation (including plants and animals)
•    Biometry, silviculture and forest management
•    Dendroecology and paleoecology
•    Ecology and forest dynamics

IMPACT FACTOR AND H INDEX: 2018 JCR (Clarivate Analytics, former Thomson Reuters Web of Science), within the subject category "Forestry", which includes 67 journals, the journal Forest Systems occupies position 42 (Q3). Impact factor is 1.138; 5-yr IF is 1.346.

2018 SJR (SCImago, Scopus, Elsevier BV): within the subject area "Agricultural and Biological Sciences: Forestry", which includes 139 journals, the Forest Systems occupies position 51 (Q2). SJR is 0.446, CiteScore is 1.24 and SNIP is 0.696.


According to Google Scholar Metrics (2014-2018), the index H of Forest Systems is h5=15 and the median h5=18.


PUBLICATION FREQUENCY: Forest Systems is published four-monthly (April, August and December).

HISTORY: Formerly known as Investigación Agraria: Sistemas y Recursos Forestales, first published in 1991, it changed its name in 2010 to Forest Systems. The predecessor of Forest Systems was Anales del Instituto Forestal de Investigaciones y Experiencias, first published in 1952.

Since 2015, Forest Systems is an electronic-only journal with no print equivalent.
