Abstract

It's presented a new methodologic proposal to be applied in Nothofagus pumilio forests. It arranged by relating on a qualitative way, certain regeneration variables with canopy cover and understory abundance. The field evaluation is quick and it is suggested like an accomplishment of large studies such as Forest Inventories, installation of Permanent Sample Plots and others. The information processing and evaluation allows to build Position and Surface Diagrams and to structure Decision Zones by means of double way numeric charts which relate two variables as average percentage frequencies of the sample. These values are then extended to management surface. Every Decision Zone is a cluster of similar situations that can be under the same silvicultural treatment. The Zones lead the forester towards the most convenient treatment but they must be accompanied by dendrometric analysis.
